CHANGE YOUR STRIPES

Change Your Stripes began with the discovery of a set of resin cameos made in 1950 in Japan. They were originally commissioned to decorate cufflinks.

One of the cameos features Janus, the god of duality and new beginnings. I thought, wouldn’t it be fun if I could create a collection that embodied this duality? I envisioned a set of limited edition reversible jewels.

Some days we want to embrace our fun and youthful side, and others we more serious, more ‘grown up’. These reversible rings and pendants capture these changing moods; changing your stripes. Flip the central disc in the ring or pendant to reveal a joyful nostalgic striped miniature painting featuring icons of the natural world; or to reveal a resin cameo featuring a
warrior, god or nymph, embodying our adult nature.

A sought-after miniature artist created the enamel paintings from collages I created – images from my mind’s eye. These are set with diamonds and rhodolite, bringing an animated sparkle. Cherries, radishes, lemons, peas and tomatoes are set on a vibrant picnic cloth. The table is visited by beetles, butterflies and snakes. It’s a fantastical summer scene that evokes the nostalgic feeling of a summer picnic and the hazy, happy memories of youth.

LOVERS EYE

When the Prince of Wales, later crowned King George IV of England, laid eyes on the twice widowed Maria Fitzherbert at the Opera it was love at first sight. He was forbidden to marry Maria as she was Catholic. History tells us
that George and Maria were wed in secret and that they exchanged miniatures depicting each other’s eyes, set into jewellery, as tokens of their love for one another.

Thus began the phenomenon of eye miniatures as keepsakes of love. Pearls were often used in Lover’s Eye jewellery to create the surrounding border of a brooch or pendant. Their value, purity and rounded perfection were thought to symbolise love itself.

Diamonds were typically found only in the most elaborately crafted Lover’s Eye jewellery created for
those with exceptional means.

I have created my own limited edition Lover’s Eye jewels using a
rare eye lenticulars. I love the playful movement of the lenticular — the cheeky wink — as the jewels move with the wearer.

With a nod to antique Lover’s Eyes, my designs feature pearls and diamonds in abundance, alongside blue sapphire, peridot, citrine and topaz.

Love Handles

A cheekily named collection; love handles celebrates having a love to hold on to. The little heart-shaped handles that adorn the collection were inspired by a heart-shaped door knocker that caught my eye on my travels; A symbol of protection and good luck, the door knocker is the first connection a visitor makes with our home, proclaiming their arrival. I love the idea that this
humble object could also open the door to our hearts.

This heart-shaped handle has become the leitmotif of the collection, forming rings and earrings and decorating vivid gemstones in rainbow shades. Vibrant enamel compliments the gems, wrapping the ring shanks and settings.

The Lovers enter the collection in two one-of-a-kind rings featuring vintage cameos in conversation, echoed in my double stone Lovers rings.

Make a Wish

In the second chapter of my Close Encounters Collection; Make A Wish, I continue my daydream into a world of unexpected meetings.

Uniting creatures from different environments, and even continents, to create new experiences together, letting my imagination run free.

The leopard makes a wish, he wants to meet new friends. He takes his new friend the Lady Bird out shopping, and a Blue Seahorse is companion for a party on the beach. A Zebra is celebrating her birthday, a little crab and cockatoo appear to help her mark the occasion.

These crystals are once again the result of a close collaboration I have with an amazing couple of master carvers I found in Germany, two women of great talent and passion for their job. Together we have brought back to life the antique technique that is the backbone of my beloved Being Crystal Collection.

The reverse of each design is decorated with a geometric enamel pattern. On the rings you find this on the underside of the crystal setting, and in the reversible earring pendants the crystal decorates one side and the enamel pattern the other.

ABRACADABRA LUXE

My Abracadabra collection is made with vintage lenticular images. First created in the late 1930’s, these playful objects combine multiple images together to tell a story.

At first glance, lenticular images seem to use a rather simple technology. This, however, could not be further from the truth. It is one thing to understand the basics of the technology, but it is quite another thing to be able to apply it. Made by the famous VariVue, by the late 1940’s, lenticulars were hugely popular, with the company producing millions of animated and stereographic images including everything from wall hangings to record album covers, CrackerJack prizes, greeting cards, post cards, political buttons and so much more.

By the 1950’s, VariVue’s images had become such a craze that many famous personalities of the time wanted to be featured in their advertisements, and their buttons were used in every political campaign throughout the country. Today, early VariVue lenticular images are hot collector items
with some selling for thousands of dollars.

These playful gems provide the inspiration for my one-of-a-kind Abracadabra pendants. The newest chapter in this collection; Abracadabra Luxe, features particularly rare and highly sought after Green Hornet, Batman and Popeye lenticulars. I have celebrated their preciousness, setting them in 18k Gold, decorating these beauties with diamonds, rubies and sapphires.

Garden Eden

The discovery of these whimsical flower resins ignited a moment of inspiration. Each of these objects celebrates an individual flower, capturing the transient beauty found in nature. My own garden of Eden.

Made in Germany in 1950, these pieces feel like a modern evolution of Essex Crystals.

I instantly saw these little beauties as rings, pendants and earrings. Setting them in 18k Gold, I have decorated them with colourful sapphires, diamonds and vibrant enamel in sophisticated and modern combinations. The back of each design is engraved with a delicate bucolic hand drawing.

Wrestlers

I drew inspiration for this collection of statement rings from my son’s passion for wrestling. His enthusiasm is infectious and has given me an appreciation for the magic and theatre found in the sport. The customs are fabulous and dramatic.

Wrestlers' masks are pieces of art in themselves: a perfect balance between power and weakness, courage and fear.

My masks are crafted in 18k Gold, with colourful precious stone and diamond pave masterfully set using various stone sizes, giving a sense of movement to these glorious veils.

The use of enamel provides a striking outline for their amplified features. The back of each ring is embellished with a starry ajour – a trademark of my jewellery.
